Dave Barry Does Japan
Dave Barry Does Japan is a Dave Barry-esque (having been written by him) travelogue on a trip to Japan in the early 1990s. Though the situation there economically has changed somewhat since his visit, almost the entire book still rings true.
The book chronicles Dave’s hilarious, utterly confused foray into the stranger-than-fiction world that is everyday Japan. As might be seen from the condition of the cover scan, I have read this one several times, and even picking it up and thumbing through a few pages provokes short bursts of audible laughter causing surrounding people to shift their respective seats on the public transit of the moment.
Having lived and worked in or closely with Japan most of the last 11 years, I can assure that this book is perfect for the layperson, the upcoming visitor, the recently returned vacationer and the ex-pat alike.
