Uncle Woody’s (or “Woody’s” as we affectionately called it) has closed its doors forever…. Buzzy (the Owner/Proprietor) must have finally retired….Here is a link to the news as I have read it.

For those who may not have recognized it, this photo was taken at Woody’s, too.
I think I’m going to drink 100 different beers in its memory.
Apparently someone bought the place and reopened it, but without Buzzy and the original atmosphere, its just not Woody’s as WE all knew it.
Many people dissed Buzzy, and while, he was kind of an asshole sometimes, he DID own a college/neighborhood bar and running a place like that is tricky. I had heard rumors about Buzzy not paying his taxes and stuff, but, regardless, the last time I was in there (2006) he indicated he was thinking of retiring, so I’m not entirely sure the commentary on this page is entirely with merit. I think its probably more a factor of running a bar for 30+ years eventually takes its toll and he was retirement age for goodness sakes… why shouldn’t he just pack it up and call it quits? I probably would.
