There are lots of things that are great about being very feminine and lady-like.

I love strong, feminine women who know how to BE women.

But these days, I would argue many men have forgotton what it means to be manly.

They either are over assertive and agressive to the point of violence, or they are panzies who cowtow to ridiculous ideas of dominance.

In celebration of manliness… I offer the first entry in the Mosh Pit Hall of Masculinity: The man with no name.

Do you feel Lucky, Punk?

How does he qualify? Let me enumerate:

1) Ingenuity under durress
2) Fearlessness in the face of death and horrendous brutality
3) Loyalty to friends, compadres, and those who help
4) Absolute and pure disdain for those who cheat him or lie to him and a willingness to cut them down when the time is right
5) Making every place the right place
6) Making every time the right time
7) Living off the land
8) Appreciation of a fine cigar

Other men on this Growing list are likely to have similar traits. But this is today’s offering.

Tony Curtis

Tony Curtis has died. He was the star of films such as the “Great Race,” “Houdini,” “Spartacus,” and “Some Like it Hot,” and made appearances next to Hollywood giants like Jack Lemon, Jimmy Stewart, Audry Hepburn and Kirk Douglas. He was directed by Hollywood legends such as Stanley Kubrick as well.

His long, strong, and varied career displayed his broad talents and mastery of style. He himself is worthy of legend but probably the most memorable thing about Tony Curtis are the perfectly suited roles in larger-than life movies from the post-World War II and Cold War era of Hollywood.

Though married 5 times, his most famous was to Janet Leigh of “Psycho” fame with whom he fathered Jame Lee Curtis and Kelly Curtis.

My personal favorite Tony Curtis movie is “The Great Race” in which he drives around in a car that I swear the studio loaned to make “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.”

Those of you who know the comics, the movies, the music, and The Mosh Pit will know the answer:

Comic Book hero as the standard by which to judge: Altered, rapid healing, unique facial hair, pissy attitude, if possible would bone Anna Paquin.

Huge Jack Man: Definitely looks the part, plays it well, if possible would bone Anna Paquin, unique facial hair, (on-screen) pissy attitude, but come on… Aussies talk big, but Kiwis can still kick their butts…:

Would Wolverine allow a chick to ream out is stink-star?

Glenn (Polish city) Danzig: Definitely looks the part, punches people who get close to the stage, looks most like the comic book Wolverine, unique facial hair, pissy attitude, if possible would bone Anna Paquin, probably would cry like a girl if hit with anything more firm than a rubbery dildo, plus his music entered the toilet in the last few years:

Mosh Pit Matt, comes back from near death in less a week each of 5 times in 10 years, and grows a beard faster than any known human, unique facial hair, pissy attitude, if possible would bone Anna Paquin, but has already had better, has only lost a 6-1 fight, enjoys eating raw chicken dipped in raw egg and garlic and is considered by NOAA to be an unstoppable source of greenhouse gas emissions due to pizza and curry intake:

Yes, the A-team movie. I saw it. Personally, I was not necessarily transported back to the ’80s, but I must say, the formula was spot-on as a feature film-length A-Team Episode. It fairly blatantly set up sequels and, given the genre, could easily make zillions of them, because, as with the TV version, basically its 4 slightly screwed up individuals working together to accomplish the ridiculous with a minimum loss of life. I was somewhat disappointed in the fact that it seems a fair number of “miscellaneous” bad guys had to actually get killed (As opposed to the TV version when you saw at least a brief glimpse of every shot-at bad-guy getting away…)… And the whole “B.A. finds spirituality” sub-plot was a bit distracting, though, I like how it added depth to his character and could be used again effectively. Face and Murdoch were also given greater depth, and I felt that though Hannibal was given tremendous deference by the team, I felt as though he was a bit to Qui-gon-i in his delivery and the film’s treatment of him.

Over all, it was the roller coaster ride of action I had hoped for with all the corn and ridiculousness needed to make it… the A-Team (*queue music: “BRATATATAT!!…”)

Dennis Hopper, a Unique Talent

Actor and Director Dennis Hopper has died after a prolonged struggle with prostate cancer at the age of 74. His unique talents and style won him critical acclaim. Best known for his role in the 1969 hit “Easy Rider”, Hopper’s talents and broad abilities were applied in many types of roles, typically offbeat and anti-hero types.

My personal favorite role by Hopper was his appearance as the slightly manic and very fried photojournalist of Col. Walter Kurtz in 1979′s “Apocalypse Now.”
