This bit of poetry has been applied to my life, usually somewhat erroneously as a statement of my unique and individualistic character.

Frost’s original intention however was to make a statement about paths NOT taken. It a lament over how his life may have been different had he gone down the more conventional path.

I have, however, always had an extraordinarily clear mental image of the natural environment that acted as a metaphor for these life choices.

It is below, followed by the poem here discussed.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood...

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

As I travel down life’s road, I am finding myself at a new crossroads even now. Facing the detrimental decisions I have made and searching for a way to understand better which path I should take when new crossroads are presented along the way.

I don’t like to get too political on current people, but I sometimes think that President Obama has crossed some lines….

Instead of counting the number of times Ben Stein has slaughtered Bush, Obama, and everyone that needed it… I will just post the following figure.

Duuuuuuude!!

In having a rather bizarre conversation with a former frequent visitor to the Mosh Pit who just had a second baby, I suggested that her husband help with the breast feeding… I suggested that I thought his tits were non-functional but I had never tried… then I thought… I wonder if its possible. Through the miracle of the interwebs, I found my answer on Wikipidea.. source of all that is true and factual.

It is a condition called gynecomastia. It can also be a side effect of anti-psychotic drugs, but I have never lactated.. er… anyway, More information can be found here.

A REAL man.

This speech was given to the 3rd Army on the Eve of D-Day. Most of us could not imagine what was about to take place then or now, but those who led, followed, fought and died all experienced it. War is hell, and I am in no way glorifying it here….

My Grandfather shared with me with me many of the horrifying, humorous, and real-life experiences he had on Omaha beach, France and in Germany.

This was an action taken in the name of liberty, in the name of justice. The people involved on every side of that conflict had different reasons to be where they were, some were there for personal gain and glory, but most were there because they had no choice. The difference in meaning is that then “no choice” included patriotism. The so-called “Patriot Act” is FORCED Patriotism and thus a misnomer… in those days it was national pride and a belief in the desperate need to preserve a way of life, a need that is so primal that people have fought over it for 1,000,000 years, or more. No, the actions taken on D-Day, on both sides are far more complex, but, to the individual soldier, they were simply fighting for their own life, for the lives of their buddies, and their loved ones back home, except those in France who were fighting together for the loved ones around them…

God Bless the all brave soldiers of D-Day, on both sides, on both sides, who faced down the purest sheer hell on earth. God bless “The Greatest Generation.” And I make no apologies here: God Bless the U.S.A., for all its faults, it has given more good than bad.

Dennis Hopper, a Unique Talent

Actor and Director Dennis Hopper has died after a prolonged struggle with prostate cancer at the age of 74. His unique talents and style won him critical acclaim. Best known for his role in the 1969 hit “Easy Rider”, Hopper’s talents and broad abilities were applied in many types of roles, typically offbeat and anti-hero types.

My personal favorite role by Hopper was his appearance as the slightly manic and very fried photojournalist of Col. Walter Kurtz in 1979′s “Apocalypse Now.”

Al Gore's New Home in Tennessee

For how long have I been saying:
“Hey idiots, all you people who worry about global warming and its ‘effects’ are utterly wrong!!!” ?

You all worry about heat, drought, famine from dried-up, hot, desert-like Iowa and our coastal cities being flooded….

The evidence is clear. Cold, fresh water influx into the global thermohaline system causes an ICE AGE… We are not headed for a hot earth, we are headed for the worst ice age ever… shutting down the cycle now will induce an early start, and since the earth’s orbit is currently drawing it away from the sun and there are some astrophysical factors (relating to earth’s tilt, spin, and orbit… and possibly a magnetic polar shift) that are conspiring towards an ice age anyway, we could be in for a real WHOPPER of one…

Terminal Pleistocene megafloods like the Missoula Flood (the first ever fully studied) are now being recorded worldwide and freshwater influx from such floods at critical locations in the thermohaline system are being hypothesized to be responsible for something called the “Younger Dryas” with very good supporting evidence.

FUCK YOU all you people who think Al Gore was right in his predictions about global warming… you probably think he invented the Internet too… morons…

If you are so concerned with the environment. Pick up some more fucking books. Learn about the Earth’s history of climate change and what causes it and how it happens over millennia, and not decades or even just centuries. It was hotter in the 1700s and even warmer than that before than now you idiots (Try growing grapes in Scotland now Al Gore).

It’s really unimaginable how such floods could occur or how they could affect the oceans, but here is an animation and discussion of the failure of the Lake Missoula ice dam… and some photos and descriptions of the aftermath to give you an idea of the scale of these things…
