The song title is “Respect for a Life Time.” The principle lyric is “Issho Issho ni itte kureya” which is a Kansai dialect way of saying “please go(be) with me forever.” (Translated text expresses the nuance in the video)

This was by far my favorite pop song when I was in Japan. It was popular at the time when I reached a zenith in understanding of Japan, Japanese people and history, and at a time when I was finally finding my place in the world. I don’t know what made me think of this song today… but… I just wanted to post it. Most of our visitors can’t understand it, but, for those who can, this goes out to you!

I love this song. Corny, yes. Cheesy, yes. High school flashbacks, definately! But its one of the few high-school-type romantic songs I really like… God Bless the ’80s!
